The Redoubtably Dumb Leaders of the GOP...

Remember Louisiana Governor Bobbie Jindal's Mr. Rogers response to President Obama's State of the Union address last month? Remember Jindal smugly mocking a small piece of funding in the stimulus bill for an activity called "volcano monitoring"?

Turns out part of that $140 million dollar earmark was slated to go to the United States Geological Survey group in Alaska for monitoring seismic activity on an active volocano known as Mount Redoubt. Mount Redoubt is approximately 100 miles from Alaska's largest city Anchorage. Mount Redoubt erupted overnight spewing ash 60,000 feet in the air, disrupting air travel and posing a health risk to nearby populations.

You know - I've heard people say that "Karma is a bitch" -- and it appears to this casual observer that the GOP has once again been bitch-slapped by this dreadful little concept known as Karma. How delightfully perfect a scenario -- the GOP's hand-picked responder to the President's SOTU goes out of his way to pompously deride the idea of spending taxpayer dollars on the scientific activity of studying, monitoring and analyzing volcanic activity, which has as one of it's heinous goals - the prevention of massive loss of life in the event a volcanic eruption takes place within the U.S., and lo and behold a mere few weeks after said derision occurs a volcano erupts! Absolutely fucking priceless!

And my conservative friends still wonder why I'm so contemptuously abrasive toward their ideology. Sigh . . .
