Being a full-dress combatant on the front lines of the culture wars is a rewarding experience most of the time. Standing up for your beliefs and presenting them to the masses for consumption can be a harrowing ordeal on occasion, but for the most part the satisfaction in the end of knowing that you took a stand and defended it outweighs the inherent fear factor of wading head first into, what I like to refer to as, the equivalent of a philosophical and political bar brawl.
By the same token it must be said that in the midst of the great cacophony of spirited debate, it is also quite easy to drift into the dangerous waters of taking one's self and one's beliefs and causes much too seriously no matter what side you come down on. So in the spirit of taking a breather and acknowledging that not everyone can be right all of the time (including your humble blogger here) here's a unique view from a jaundiced observer - the late comedian Richard Jeni (Platypus Man). Enjoy.
Now - back to the culture wars! Damn the neo-con torpedoes men!! Full speed ahead!!!
